Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are travelling to Canada on May 20-23 as part of the Royal Family’s visits to Commonwealth countries to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Their three-province visit officially begins with a stop at CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick, where Charles served in the 1970s. The royals’ stop in Toronto will include a visit to the Queen’s Own Rifles, a regiment which recently named Camilla as honorary Colonel-in-Chief. The regiment will join others from across Canada in a celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee and the biennial of the War of 1812. Back in Britain, many sites offer visitors a glimpse into the past to explore dramatic and courageous stories of war.
