[News/Alerts] Bhutan Summer – Booking, Visas and Tariffs
It is not difficult to obtain a tourist visa for Bhutan; visa applications to Bhutan are usually processed within 24 hours.
However, Bhutan is somewhat unique in that you must book travel through a local tour operator or international partner. The tour operator will take care of all the major arrangements including booking flights, all internal transport (private car, tour bus, etc.), accommodations, meal arrangements, and coordinating a licensed tour guide. In Bhutan there is also a minimum daily package for tourists, which includes all internal taxes and charges.
The minimum package is (for a group of 3 persons or more) $250 per person per night for the months of March, April, May, September, October and November, and $200 per person per night for the months of January, February, June, July, August and December.
Full payment of travel to and within Bhutan is required before a visa will be approved. Payment should be received approximately two weeks prior to departure and must be received via wire transfer to the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
